True Friends Announces Day Camp for Children and Adults with Disabilities

EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN., March 10, 2025 – True Friends, a Minnesota nonprofit that provides life-changing experiences for children and adults with disabilities, has opened registration for Day Camp at Camp Eden Wood in Eden Prairie. Life-changing adventures and experiences await campers of all abilities and all ages for weekly sessions in June and July 2025. Financial aid is available.

“We are thrilled to announce that Day Camp is back,” said John LeBlanc, President and CEO of True Friends. “This program is perfect for kids and adults with physical and developmental disabilities who want a true Minnesota camp experience without an overnight stay.”

For more than 50 years, True Friends’ highly trained staff has provided that Minnesota camp experience, enabling campers to build confidence and create special friendships in a welcoming environment designed to meet their specific needs.

At Camp Eden Wood, each camper chooses their activities and determines their own level of participation, including: a multi-sensory environment, gross motor room, arts and crafts, hiking trails and a ropes course. As part of Camp, True Friends also offers day trips to museums, pools, parks and more.

“Our campers, and their families, tell us that Camp is their favorite time of the year,” LeBlanc said. “It’s a place that creates belonging for people of all abilities. It’s a place where they can relax and be themselves – and that’s something we all deserve.”

Camp Eden Wood is tucked in the Birch Island Woods west of I-494 in Eden Prairie. Registration is now open for the summer 2025 season at: https://truefriends.org/camp-eden-wood-day-camp/.
