“The first time we dropped her off, I had to hold back my tears because I had never left her before,” Amanda’s mom Jenny explained. But after her daughter came home, Jenny realized that True Friends is a home away from home for Amanda. “She loved everything about it. She leaves Camp happy and tired ... you can bring your loved one here knowing that they will be treated with the utmost trust and care.”
Camp is a special place to make new friends – especially for new camper Ethan and staff member Carlos. Both were nervous about their first time at camp, but they instantly became pals. Ethan said his favorite things about Camp are, “Hanging out with Carlos, going fishing, making new friends and the talent show.” Ethan added, “Don’t be scared, you’ll make so many friends and have a good time!”
“It doesn’t matter if you have a disability or not,” said long-time camper Katie. “You can be yourself here. You can be who you want to be ... here, you can do anything you want.” Ethan said his favorite things about Camp are, “Hanging out with Carlos, going fishing, making new friends and the talent show.” Ethan added, “Don’t be scared, you’ll make so many friends and have a good time!”
When Jo's at camp, he enjoys drawing pictures for his grandma and cheering on other campers at the ropes course.
What Jo appreciates the most are the connections he made. “I just get to hang out with all of my friends here,” he said.
About Camp
Care and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do.
Our disability camp programs are designed with personalized medical and care plans, 1:1 and 1:3 support ratios, and professionally trained staff to ensure every camper is safe, supported and included. We partner with caregivers to provide trusted care, meaningful experiences, and a place where individuals with disabilities and special needs can grow in self-confidence.
True Friends operates three accessible disability camp locations in Minnesota: Camp Friendship in Annandale, Camp Courage in Maple Lake, and Camp Eden Wood in Eden Prairie. Each location provides personalized medical and behavioral support, 1:1 and 1:3 staffing ratios, and professionally trained staff to ensure safe, inclusive experiences for individuals with disabilities.
Many of the individuals and families we serve include those in the autism community, as well as individuals with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and ADHD. Our programs are designed to provide inclusive, medically supported camp experiences tailored to each person’s unique strengths and support needs.
To provide the highest level of care and support for every camper, we gather important medical, behavioral, and personal information through our application/registration process. This allows our team to create individualized care plans and ensure a safe, inclusive experience for all participants.

How to Register
Apply
Online
Collect all your documents needed to register prior to starting the application and determine your care ratio.
Application
Received
Once you submit your application, you will receive an email confirming we have received it. All applications will be on hold until the required documents are received.
Application
Review
Each application will be reviewed by staff. Age, gender, diagnosis, care ratio, and other factors will be considered when placing individuals into sessions.
Request for
Deposit*
Once your application has been reviewed and approved you will be placed into a session. Once you are placed in a session you will receive an email requesting a deposit.
Confirmation
Once your application, documents, and deposit* have been received and approved, you are registered. You will then receive an email confirmation with final details about your upcoming session.
