Manager of Health Care – Camp Friendship, Annandale

The Manager of Health Care is responsible for overseeing the general health care needs for True Friends. The focus of this position includes working directly with our camping, respite and travel departments, as well as partnering with other departmental leaders to address health care needs and compliance at all True Friends locations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

– Leads the Health Care department, ensuring that proper health care is being provided to participants, employees and volunteers
– Partners with departmental leaders to address health care needs and ensure health care compliance for the organization
– Hires and manages health care nurses for the organization
– Partners with registered nurse consultants to ensure that our organization complies with all health care licensing, laws and standards
– Develops, provides and manages health care training to ensure safe and effective programs, which meet compliance, licensing and ACA standards
– Develops, implements and maintains an effective health care orientation program
– Works closely with the Medical Advisory Committee regarding health care issues
– Assists, as needed, with sales, marketing and promotional efforts to grow the number of customers served by the organization
– Monitors medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled
– Develops, maintains, implements and updates written policies and procedures pertaining to health care
– Recruits and hires organizational healthcare employees
– Performs other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

– Valid and current LPN license required
– 3+ years nursing experience
– Experience working with children and adults with disabilities desired
– Previous supervisory experience required
– Must have strong, proven verbal and written communication skills
– Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
– Must be able to provide strategic-level thinking and decision-making
– Must have a results orientation with demonstrated ability to drive results
– Functional computer skills required, which includes experience working with Microsoft Office
– Must be able to pass organizational background check

Respite Counselor

Camp Friendship and Camp Eden Wood 

Respite Counselors support all health and personal care needs, safety and the general welfare of all participants involved in the weekend respite program. Positions similar to the Respite Counselor position include but are not limited to: Personal Care Attendant (PCA), Direct Support Professional (DSP), Paraprofessional, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Camp Counselor,

Job Requirements:
-Must be able to work 1 – 4 weekends a month
-Must have good written and oral communication skills
-Must be able to pass a background check
-Must be able to complete CPR certification

Experience not necessary – training will be provided.

Respite Check-In Nurse

Friday evenings only, 6 – 9 p.m., Year-Round Opportunity
Camp Eden Wood, Eden Prairie and Camp Friendship, Annandale

LPN or RN licensed individuals who have a current license in Minnesota with CPR completion.

Nurses complete in collection of each participant’s medical information, set up and/or double check medications and train unlicensed staff working with participants on any unique skills required to support the participants.   Each Check In experience is unique.

Nurses must be present onsite for check-ins.

Camp Nurse (Summer and Winter Camp)

All Camps

Come be a part of a wonderful organization helping individuals with physical and mental disabilities while engaging in camp life. We are in need of nurses that can commit to anywhere from 2 weeks to the entire summer to meet the needs of our campers. Nurses are required to be on site and housing for the duration is provided. Nurse must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school and have a current RN license in Minnesota and CPR certification. Positive communication skills, detail orientated, organized and good customer service skills required.

New grads and experienced nurses encouraged to apply.

Camp Nursing Assistants (Summer and Winter Camp)

All Camps

A Camp Nursing Assistant is required to have CPR/First Aid completion or equivalent. The Camp Nursing Assistant may be a graduate nurse, nursing student or other healthcare major with clinical experience. Experience in healthcare or CNA certification is not required for the job, but may be considered in lieu of clinical experience. The Camp Nursing Assistant will reside in the health center living area and rotate on-call status.

The Camp Nursing Assistant will:
– Provide healthcare to staff and campers, under the supervision of the camp nurse;
– Administer medication and write camper profiles and;
– Provide teaching and training of healthcare related topics to staff.

Camp Check-In Nurse

Sunday days only, 1 – 6 p.m., Summers (June – August) Winter (December)
All Camps

LPN or RN licensed individuals who have a current license in Minnesota with CPR completion.
