Wow. Over the course of the last several weeks, a lot has changed in the world, in Minnesota, and here at True Friends. While we all adjust to this new journey we are on, we wanted to take a moment to update you on the current status of True Friends programs and services.

While much has changed, our commitment to all of you has not waivered. Our mission remains true and steadfast to provide life-changing experiences to individuals with disabilities. Although we have had to significantly scale back the programs we offer for the safety and well-being of our participants, our team is working diligently to prepare for the day when we can welcome our participants and their families back. True Friends is still here; anxiously awaiting to see you.

As of today, True Friends is serving a small handful of individuals and we hope to increase the amount in the coming weeks and months.

For the past several weeks we have listened intently to local, state, and federal agencies as they make recommendations and provide guidance on how to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the guidance from the American Camp Association (ACA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as county and state agencies, we feel it is in the best interest for the safety of our campers, their families, staff, and volunteers to cancel all 2020 Summer Camp sessions.

Our travel program, Ventures Travel, has also been temporarily suspended until further notice. True Friends made the difficult decision to suspend the program for the safety of our participants, their families, staff, and volunteers.

Even with all the changes the True Friends organization has been forced to make, the decision to support our local communities was made easily.

Camp Eden Wood in Eden Prairie is closed for summer camp, in part, to support the Eden Prairie First Responders as they work in the community. In the event a first responder needs to quarantine, they will find a home at our Eden Prairie location. In addition, our Maple Lake and Annandale locations are on a short list to support several local counties and the state, if the need arises.

We want to thank you all of you for your support and kind words as we embark on this new journey. We have been humbled by dedication and commitment many of you have made to our organization.

The last several weeks have only reaffirmed our commitment to our mission, our communities, and to you. We will continue to persevere and provide programs and services that offer individuals the chance to create a new path for individuals of all abilities to travel along.

We hope you will journey along with us. Take care and be well.
