David Jones was elected to the board in 2006 and the Foundation board in 2009. In addition to previously serving as the Board chair, he is on the True Friends Finance Committee and the Foundation Investment Committee. David’s son attended Camp Courage in the 1980s and respite care services at Camp Eden Wood until his son’s death in 1999. David retired from Allina Health Systems where he served as the Executive Officer and the Chief Financial Officer. His career as a health care executive is extremely beneficial in the areas of business management, finance and accounting. Jones has a strong passion to expand True Friends respite programs. David and his wife, Julie, reside in Arden Hills.
Robert “Bob” Harnett has been involved with the organization over 20 years; he was elected to the foundation board in 1993 and currently serves as the Board’s secretary/treasurer. Bob also serves on the True Friends Finance, Fundraising and PR & Marketing Committees. His niece and two nephews have benefited from True Friends programs since 1987. He has a strong sense of compassion for our participants and their families. Bob has been very active in fund raising activities during his board service, raising over $3M through his connections; he started the “Circle of Friends” which matches donor gifts with campers who need camp scholarships.
Ruth Johnson was elected to the Foundation board in 2015 and serves on the Foundation board investment committee. Ruth works at Homes for Heroes, a family-owned company that affiliates with real estate-related service providers who offer substantial rebates and discounts to the Heroes who serve our nation and its communities every day. She lives in Dayton, MN and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, travelling and taking care of her dogs.
Steven Lacke was elected to the Foundation board in 2015. Steven is the Chief Operating Officer at Constellation Mutual, a partnership of mutual liability insurers and health services companies determined to be a leading source of physician support. Steven has experience as a CFO and Senior Vice President with MMIC Group working in finance, investments and accounting. Steven lives with his wife, Olivia, in Hudson, WI. In his spare time, Steven enjoys woodworking, boating and landscaping.
Tom Mahowald, CFA was elected to the Foundation board in 2015. Tom is the Managing Director of Evercore Wealth Management. Tom has over 20 years of investment research and portfolio management experience. Tom is also a finance committee member for Saint John Neumann Catholic Church and is on the Father’s Club Advisory Board for Saint Thomas Academy. He lives in Eagan, MN with his wife, Tracy, and two sons, Joseph and John. In his spare time, Tom enjoys golf, hiking, photography and travel.
Laura Moret was elected to the Foundation board in 2015. Laura is Managing Director with Piper Jaffray Companies and a member of the asset management leadership team. She is a financial services senior leader with 25 years of experience in strategic planning, financial product development and regulatory risk management. Laura combines her financial expertise and risk management experience to advise executive officers. Laura lives in Minneapolis, MN with her husband and two children. In her spare time, Laura enjoys travel, baseball and biographies.
Mary Kemp Murray joined the foundation board in 2015. Mary is a design agency co-founder, president and brand strategy lead with more than two decades of experience helping clients of all sizes- from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies- define their products and brands by design. Ideas that Kick, the agency Mary leads with her creative director business partner, has been widely recognized within the design industry for delivering smart, strategic creative concepts that woo and wow consumers in order to transform words and images into action.
Mary is as committed to community and the design community as she is to client success. She served as a MN 4-H Foundation Board Member and Officer from 2006-2012-and as the MN 4-H Foundation’s Marketing Committee Chair 2005-2006. Mary has been honored with awards from the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents, the MN 4-H Foundation and Rotary International. She and her husband call Minneapolis home and have two sons and a daughter.
Diane Nettifee joined the foundation board in 2015. Diane is president and founder of Magis Ventures, a company that specializes in growing high performance leadership teams who are capable of aligning the core elements of values, purpose and vision with effective strategic action. She brings 25 years of executive experience in the packaging industry. Diane teaches in the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership program at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN. She is an avid SCUBA diver and certified SCUBA instructor, musician, cyclist and skier. She resides in Bloomington, MN with her husband Jerry and their Springer Spaniel, Zoe.
John Tollefsrud joined the True Friends foundation board in 2007 and serves on the Investment Committee as well. He is retired from a career with Western National Mutual Insurance Company. He resides in Bloomington MN.
Greg Wallace – joined the True Friends board in 2012 and also serves on the foundation board. Greg is also chairperson of the Finance Committee and serves on the Foundation Investment Committee. He works as a Wealth Management Advisor at Northwestern Mutual and is very active in community service with an emphasis on diversity. Greg is a member of the Monitors Club and a long-time member of the Courage Center Executive Board. After the merger, Greg joined the True Friends Board as Treasurer and serves as chair of the Finance Committee and on the Fundraising and Foundation Investment Committee. He also previously served on the boards of the Walker West Music Academy and the Columns Resource Group Foundation. Greg is a lifetime resident of Bloomington MN, where he resides with his wife, Jennifer, and their three sons.
